The Boat House – Cala San Vicente – Ibiza

Winter Sun on Ibiza

The sun was shining, however it wasn’t warm enough to swim or sunbathe so we decided to take Sadie out for a drive to the North of the island and check out the Boat House in Cala san Vicente.

The windy roads to Cala san Vicente are lined with the greenest and sweetest smelling pine trees you have ever seen! The road hugged the coast as it led us North of the island. The roads are so quiet in Winter, it really felt like it was just us on the roads, passing the odd cyclist or ibicencan farmer.

Hippy Market

On the way we decide to stop off at ‘Las Dalias’ hippy market on the San Carlos road. Vibrant colours, fabrics, trinkets and artwork is a feast for the eyes as we arrive! The smell of freshly cooked paella fills the air and we can’t resist as we sit down and enjoy a healthy portion each. We walk the paella off meeting characters and their wares and then we get back on the road to Cala san Vicente.

Cala san Vicente – Ibiza

As you reach Cala San Vicente the road dips and reveals the beauty of our destination. This really is a photo stop moment, so I jump out and take a picture to add to my already full gallery of Ibiza, the view never ceases to amaze me!

Boat House Ibiza Restaurant

Boat House Ibiza Restaurant

We park the van up and venture inside the Boat House restaurant. Once inside it was a delight to find swinging hammocks, big soft cushions, snug areas, surrounded by tropical plants and soft lighting while plates and glasses clinked in the background.

The food smells delicious and looks even better, so we eagerly grab a menu and say hola to the uber cool waiter. We decide on a glass of vino tinto each and warm fresh bread, homemade aioli and olives to munch on.

Its not long before I take the plunge and I am happily swinging in my own hammock glass of red in one hand, enjoying the warmth of the nearby fire and the twinkling fairy lights as they light up the restaurant ready for its evening diners.

Me in a hammock

It’s impossible to feel anything but relaxed and in the moment at Cala San Vicente’s moon shaped beach, no doubt due to being surrounded by crystal clear water, cliffs and mountains.

We watch as the sun sets, and the sky turns to shades of husky oranges and pinks, we take one last stroll along the beach and head back to the van for the night.

It really was the perfect Winter afternoon!

The Boathouse in Cala San Vicente is open all year round! A must do in Ibiza!
